THE FIELD
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a demo version.
The Field is a 2-dimensional grid-free war simulation game. This game requires two players OFFLINE who control two sides, Black and White, just like in chess.
SELECT & ARRANGE
When you press start, you see a scene like this.

On the left side is the unit the players choose. The screen is your field.
- Use WASD to control the camera view;
- Left click to place a unit;
- Press E (no need to hold your left click) to erase;
- Use Up and Down keys to choose;
- Use Left and Right keys to switch between black and white.
The arrangement is up to you two. We will talk about the units later.
PS: In theory, you can arrange an opponent’s unit in your troops indeed, but you cannot command them later. Also you can try to fill the screen full if you are bored enough.
Here is an example.

- Then you press ENTER to start the war.
COMMAND
When you start playing, you see something like this.
The color of the texts represents which player is commanding. Blue is for Black, and red is for White. Each player has a minute to command. On the right side, you can see the time of your turn.

Left click or use C to select and right click to determine the direction of the selected unit.
- Press X to halt the motion of a unit;
- Use WASD to move camera view and scroll to zoom in / out;
- When you finish commanding, press ENTER ONCE to let the other player to command.
When you put your mouse on one of YOUR units, you will see the values of it. To be fair, the units only move when two players are done and players cannot see the values of opponent’s units.

- M: movement ability, not variable, namely;
- H: harm ability, not variable, namely;
- S: shield ability, not variable, namely;
- HP: health points, variable, namely;
- MR: morale, variable. It can determine a unit’s true ability considering M, H and S to move, to damage and to shield. It decreases by time. When it comes to 0, the unit is not moveable nor whit the ability to damage, and becomes very fragile. This value can be increased by CARTERERs;
- RECENT DIRECTION: namely, variable, ranging from 0 to 360. 0 for East and 90 for North.

- RE: resource, variable, the resource that the CARTERER carries. It decreases as the unit distribute it to enhance other units’ morale.

FUTURE PLANS
Add settings;
Add BGM;
Add more units: SHIELD, BOW, CROSSBOW, GENERAL etc.;
Add Castle & City system;
Add water system;
Add terrain.
CREATOR’S WORDS
This is literally my first public game and I know it really requires polishing. My coding capability is bad as well as my English so there must be some bugs. As a student I don’t have much time to improve it, though.
